American journalist Hilda Morones, who has done a little research on the world of logos, identifies 7 main types. They, in turn, belong to one of three categories - graphic, font, combined.

Graphic:

  • Signs and Symbols

These are symbolic logos. To create them, they use icons, pictograms created using graphic design. Their main task is to evoke a visual image that will be associated with a particular company.

  • Abstractness

These logos are created using abstract shapes, not symbols. Their goal is to convey what your brand symbolizes, to lay down emotions and ideas without recognizable patterns, using a varied combination of colors and shapes.

Suitable for companies wishing to sell products in different countries, because the name will have to be translated, and the icon in Africa is the icon.

  • Character logo

These are mascot logos. They are colorful, sometimes cartoonish and always funny. They will help create a certain character who will become an "ambassador" of your business, the face of your brand.

Best suited for companies selling products for small children, families.

Great for social media marketing.

Font:

  • Abbreviations

Used when the company has a long name. Remembering a 3-character abbreviation, for example, is easier than a 2-3 word brand name.

When developing, special attention should be paid to the selection of the font, relying on two criteria - compliance with the spirit and style of the company, readability.

  • Words (trademark)

Suitable for companies with a short, clear name. Also, as with abbreviations, you need to carefully work out the typography.

Combined:

  • Text-graphic

They are a combination of words / letters and a picture. This is a versatile option that will work for most companies. The logo symbol will immediately become associated with the image.

  • Emblem

In this version of the logo(Simple Logo Design Ideas in San Diego), the letters are located inside the icon or symbol. They are created according to the principle of printing, tokens, emblems. Best suited for non-profit businesses such as schools, government agencies.
