Every person is different and unfortunately, this isn't a 1 size fits all approach however, If you ask yourself the following questions you may be able to help give yourself the guidance needed to make your own decisions: 1. What is the differences between the different rates? 2. Is there an account fee that you will need to pay? 3. Do you currently have debts? 4. Do you have the ability to make extra repayments each week/fortnight/month? 5. Are you planning on selling your home in the next couple of years? 6. Why are you making the decision, either way? When people ask me which I personally chose I say variable. the reason for my choice is that I have the ability to make extra repayments and I don't see the rates going up to a point where I regret it. I do see value in fixing loans for a shorter period however, it just is for more than just the rate seems low. Do the math and see how they sit, side by side. If you have extensive debts this could be a time to fix at a low rate and use all your extra money to pay off as much debt as possible (except for your house) to free up the cash that you work so hard for. #fixed_vs_variable_rates #variable_rates #fixed_rates
